San Francisco Bridge - Engineering marvel that stood the test of time

This is a trivia to you guys which may not know about... The San Francisco bridge large supporting wires are actually made of of thousand of smaller wires held together to support its support structure, which is the bridge itself.

Close up view. It's the first time i've seen upclose.

Buoy - Before and After

This article shows you the birth and demise of a buoy for offshore service.

10years after the first service the buoy was recovered and this was the condition after.

Heat Exchanger with damage U-bundle

Heat Exchanger: U-tube damage due to corrosion of the carbon steel bundle. This did not happen overnight but as time passes, the carbon steel has corroded causing the tubes to be unstable since the bundle loses support.

The service is cooling water therefore it is essential for a plant to maintain high integrity of these equipment.

I know what you might say, "how can Inconel look so brownish?". Believe it or not its Inconel, and the brownish color are just surface stain due to long exposure to the service.
