Buoy - Before and After

This article shows you the birth and demise of a buoy for offshore service.

New construction in the fabrication yard

10years after the first service the buoy was recovered and this was the condition after.
(buoy is used somewhere in the sea)

Heat Exchanger with damage U-bundle

Heat Exchanger: U-tube damage due to corrosion of the carbon steel bundle. This did not happen overnight but as time passes, the carbon steel has corroded causing the tubes to be unstable since the bundle loses support.

The service is cooling water therefore it is essential for a plant to maintain high integrity of these equipment.

Corroded baffle plate leading to exchanger tube extreme vibration

Baffle is made of carbon steel with Inconel tubes

I know what you might say, "how can Inconel look so brownish?". Believe it or not its Inconel, and the brownish color are just surface stain due to long exposure to the service.
